Mix Matters home DJ's

DJ Rude-E is a versatile mixer with a passion for every genre of music. Surrounded by musicians since birth, DJ'ing became a hobby for him in his early teens. From house parties, to weddings, to proms, Rude-E's hometown of San Antonio Texas was a great place to start his musical career.

While working as a photographer at the local NBC affiliate (KMOL TV-4) Rude-E ran into DJ Rich (DJ Riddler-WKTU) who taught Rude-E the true art of mixing. DJ Rich, then a mixer at KTFM, introduced Rude-E to then KTFM Music Director Charles Chavez (MCA Records & Latium Entertainment). "I remember when I met Charles for the first time at my club where KTFM used to broadcast live from...he gave me the best advise ever!" says DJ Rude-E. "He said, DON'T get into radio! Stay in T.V. where the money is!" But Rude-E didn't listen. In 1997 after guest mixing for six months on the air, he quit his well paying television job and was hired as a Mixshow DJ at KTFM. At that time Charles's brother, Steve 'Smokin' Chavez (Interscope Records) was the new Music Director at KTFM. Steve took what DJ Rich had begun and cultivated Rudy Palacios Jr. into DJ Rude-E.

In February of 2002, Rude-E began building a career on the other side of radio...PROMOTIONS. At the instructions of Charles Chavez, Steve Chavez got Rude-E started at the first promotional Street Team (Sound Factory) in the town home to the "San Antonio Spurs". In just over a year Charles saw how good Rude-E had gotten at the promotions game and offered him a position at his record label in Houston TX, "Latium Entertainment". On May 1st 2003 DJ Rude-E moved from San Antonio, where he was born and raised, up the street, 200 miles away. "I love Houston, we have huge plans at Latium and are now being distributed by Columbia Records!" says Rude-E, "But my passion is still mixing at clubs and in syndication with mixmatters, it's something I'll be doing when I'm 80 years old at my nursing home!"
