DJ Jason Mizell, known as Jam Master Jay a member of Run-DMC, was shot and killed in a recording studio in the New York borough of Queens on October 30th, 2002. The very neighborhood he grew up in. Jay was a pioneer for hip hop DJ's, and his music and accomplishments have been an inspiration to us all. Jay has a wife and three children. MixMatters would like to express their condolences to his family and loved ones. He will be greatly missed.

Jam Master Jay was a TRUE pioneer to tha art of Turntablism....He paved tha way for many DJ'z of today....He showed how a DJ can be tha forefront of Group...not Just A Guy in a Club Playing Music...He is a great loss to tha DJ community..
