BLAZzE

"Wow" is right when anyone encounters Ms. Johnson, better known as BLAZzE. This young ladies beauty and style is captivating, her confidence and skills flow so naturally, it’s like running water. She has been blessed with an extraordinary amount of talent as a writer, model, rap artist and actress accompanied with the ability to hold a note. BLAZzE has been on the underground scene, and is now ready to ignite this multi million-dollar industry like a three-alarm fire. As you continue to read into her life you will get a brief understanding on who BLAZzE is and what ingredients she brings to the game. One would say that BLAZzE has a creative versatile mind, a serious lyrical style and strong talent that belong to the game! BlaZze always said “I am the one that holds the key to my path”. She grew up in the hard streets of Bridgeport’s Marina Village project. From the age of 14 BLAZzE knew she wanted to be a rap artist. BLAZzE left home at the age of 15, her tom-boy image and hunger for the fast life included everything from harmless credit cards scams to the dangers of the drug trade. And, as time past she shed her tom-boy image, and people started to see her as just a nigga in heels. But, anybody that knew or knows BLAZzE will vouch that she is one of the realest chicks you can ever meet. Once she teamed up with her brothers and began to enter into local talent shows it was a point of no return. This experience helped to build her confidence, skills and staying power that’s well needed to survive in this game. However, her confidence grew even stronger and she started branching out on her own, which lead her to venture out beyond her hometowns comfort and surroundings. But “the life” if it doesn’t take you out, it has a way of maturing you. BLAZzE became pregnant and she felt that it was time for a change. However, she quickly adjusted to motherhood, and with two children she continued to keep her eyes on the prize, BLAZzE believe that she could still pursue her music career and went full speed at it. But it was a bumpy road, for 3 1/2 years BLAZzE struggled with her daughter’s asthma condition that was diagnosed as life threatening. Suddenly it seemed that all BLAZzE’s dreams came to an end with the tragic passing of her 4 year old daughter. That ‘PAIN’, combined with the thoughts that constantly go through her head; she continues to say “you just can't explain it”. After this traumatic experience BLAZzE, fell into deep depression and made an attempt to commit suicide. BLAZzE tried fighting off the feelings but remained in heavy denial about all that she was going through. Trying to escape the pain she became a heavy drinker, and got strung out on Ecstasy, hitting rock bottom and loosing everything including her son. BLAZzE realized that she needed to get back on track and pull it together. She began to dig deep inside and remembered that she did have goals, dreams and most of all talent! Although she often reflects back on her life, the passing of her daughter, run-ins with the law, the years of physical abuse by her kid’s father, nearly losing her life from another relationship, and coming close to losing her son when he had once been used as a shield in a shootout. She once felt that these were battles she couldn't face nor handle. But as things began to get clearer in her head, she realized that she does not give up. And, walks a path that she chose, whether it’s right or wrong, she had a purpose, and for that reason she said, ”I lived, when I most wanted to die”. BLAZzE now knows that boundaries only exist when you believe them to be. Now that music is the focus in her life it was just a matter of time before all will take notice. Perhaps it’s the high self-esteem and the confidence of her sexuality that commands her respect as she holds her own. The energy and enthusiasm that surrounds BLAZzE both on and off the stage makes her a performer that’s very hard to forget. She’s has opened for many artists, and performed in all the major cities in Connecticut, through out New England, Dirty South, mid-west and out into Cali. BLAZzE has done many radio shows, several magazines and video appearances. In 06 she received (4) nominations by Conneticut's Holla Back Video Music Awards for female artist of the year, Best collaboration, Top Model and Best female solo artist. Again in 07 she received 2 more nominations for best female solo artist and winning hands down, for ‘best mixtape of the year’ for her project titled “Shawnna vs. BLAZzE”. BLAZzE has been heating up the streets and definitely the talk of CT. Her mix tapes, street savvy and skills landed her in the hands of several hot producers. BLAZzE’s work continues to shine.
