What makes your store unique?
Our store is unique due to our dedicated staff and overall access to all the elements in hip hop. We sell vinyl records, DJ equipment, hip hop clothing, magazines, books, dvd’s and our loyal service to our customers. You will also always see world renowned DJ’s like Mr Choc from Power 106, Faust and Shortee, Revolution from the Wake-up Show and many other inspirational DJ’s that have helped develop the DJ culture to where it is today. The Scratch DJ Academy founded by Jam Master Jay from Run DMC also helps in making the Rehab Center for the Elements a unique store. Through the Scratch DJ Academy, many students come to the store to practice and share in the knowledge of developing the hip hop culture. We have had movie nights with directors and producers giving an open forum on hip hop, we have had open mic nights with local talents battling with other major artists and DJ exhibitions with concentration on the roots of hip hop and turntablism. The best thing about the Rehab Center for the Elements is the relationship between our staff and our customers.
Any DJ’s that we might know shop at your store?
Faust and Shortee, Mr Choc, Revolution, Arabian Prince, Ji Ji Sweet, Warrior and Strong, Blindman, Denkym, Oggy and Tony Jr just to name a few.
Does store have turntables for costumer use?
Yes we do. we Also offer practice turntables for our Scratch DJ Academy students.
What type of music are you into?
I personally like soulful breaks, instrumentals and downtempo groovy tracks. I am also a fan of the West coast hip hop movement and have been trying to help develop more artists in our area.
Any last words?
With technology, turntablism has changed in the past year or two. Always know the fundamentals of hip hop and turntablism. Don’t be a DJ just to become a DJ but let the music and the momentum of playing the music excite and motivate you to accomplish more in hip hop and turntablism. “Feel the music and let the music guide you”.
